Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between working with a CPA, EA and Tax Preparer?

A CPA must go through years of training to be licensed. CPAs need to meet education and training requirements to achieve and maintain their license.

An Enrolled Agent is a person who has earned the privilege of representing taxpayers before the IRS. The requirements to become an EA are less stringent than those of a CPA.

A Tax Preparer is typically someone who is able to obtain an IRS PTIN to file tax returns. This is the lowest barrier of entry to filing tax returns.

Will you prepare our tax returns while we wait in your office?

No. Our process is to intake your documents and do a complete review of your current year documents. We then examine your specific tax situation against the current tax law and opportunities available to you. This process takes more than a one-time sitting and we would not be doing you a favor if that process were rushed.

Your website seems to cater to businesses. Do you work with individuals?

Yes, we work with individuals even if you don’t own a business.

What type of individual clients are you actively working with?

We work with individuals that need CPA advisory guidance. We are establishing long-term client relationships and are providing our clients value through multi-year planning / strategy tax engagements. Yes, we prepare tax returns but that is not the only focus.

What are some different tax scenarios that your clients have?

The vast majority of our clients have some type of wrinkle to their tax situation. Below are some examples:

  • Receives 1099 income to be reported on Sch C
  • Owns a business interest in a Partnership or S-Corporation
  • Owns Rental Real Estate
  • Is a professional with multiple W2s
  • Has multiple Investment Brokerage Statements

I’m retired. Would I be a good fit as your client?

For our clients who are retired, we see a lot of tax planning opportunities. The tax code does not get less complex when you retire!

Are you able to work with my other advisors?

Yes, we regularly work with our clients’ Financial Advisors and/or Attorneys.
